Imagine receiving an email that appears to be from your bank. The email might have the bank's logo, official-sounding language, and even a warning about suspicious activity on your account. It asks you to click on a link to verify your account details. When you click the link, you are taken to a website that looks just like your bank’s official site. Here, you're prompted to enter your username, password, and possibly other information like your Social Security number.
In reality, this website is a fake, and the information you enter is sent directly to the attackers. They can then use this information to access your real bank account, steal your money, or commit other types of fraud.
